Series Two Club Badge

Nothing to report, really, other than it's a pretty nice grill badge. The club has two types, one of which affixes beneath the Land Rover badge, and this brass one. I opted for this.  Looks nice close up, and but is still discreet from a distance.

Blog2print Book

Having been bombarded for some time with ads for blog2print, I finally had a look at their site. And then ordered a book for this blog. The result?

The result is a really nice book. Very good quality, very nicely done. 11.25" tall, 8.75" wide. Somehow a very enjoyable thing to look through, rather than clicking and scrolling a screen, plus it's a great souvenir of the project (to the cutoff date in the book, at least). If the Land Rover is ever sold, it's also something that can be shown to prospective purchasers. Too bad they can only do smaller photos, though - would have liked them to match the width of the print.

In the meantime, have been using the vehicle for things like picnics with my daughter. She loves the Land Rover, and often asks if we can drive a little longer before coming home.

Great picnic vehicle. : )

Fox Run

Fox Run is a retirement home, and every year they sponsor a get-together of the 'Boot n' Bonnet' British Car Club. They very kindly provide the venue and a free lunch, and in exchange the home residents can have the opportunity to come out and see the cars and meet the club.

Beautiful day for the half-hour drive. We were the first there, and could pick our spot. Chose next to the shade tent, obviously! Land Rover resplendant in her wrinkles.

Settled in.

Beautiful location overlooking the St.Lawrence River and the islands of 1000 Island region.

Comfy place to sit.

Something for everyone. A relatively small gathering, but a very good selection.

30,000 Pageviews

In the world of the internet, 30,000 pageviews on a blog is not a big thing (my daughter's favourite Gummy Bear video on YouTube has presently, for example, over 218 million hits), but I think for this little Land Rover Series 2 blog that's not bad, and was a pleasant thing to discover. Hopefully the restoration part is being useful somewhere. And so, whoever you are, thanks for being the 30,000th!

Enjoying Summer

A photo by my daughter, showing that even tall people fit extremely well into a Land Rover. : ) Hot, overcast day, windows and vents open for the breeze, small drops of rain on the windshield, leather-covering on the steering wheel under one hand, gear shift knob under the other, and other folks out having a good time. Just a nice moment.

Small Surgery - Brake Master Cylinder

The TVR-made brake master cylinder had begun to leak at the push-rod, and so had to be replaced. A bit surprising it would leak so soon, especially as it almost new and was not a cheap unit. It had just 400+ km on it. The original Girling m/c hadn't been great, either, the inner spring being too weak or something similar. Ah well. The new m/c is a cheaper one, as if they're all going to fail so often, then why not. I did carefully take it apart and inspected and cleaned everything, so I'm hopeful that will extend its life.

If you don't mind undoing bolts, Land Rovers are easy to work on. That overspray on the underside of the hood/bonnet is factory original, by the way (except the part on the frame, which was copied from what was originally there). The mudflaps have been superb at stopping stones and dirt from hitting the bulkhead footwell.

Just a view inside the pedal box. It would be nice if the m/c could come out without having to remove the whole box. Be even nicer if the wing didn't have to come off, too! : )

Strawberry Picking

We went strawberry picking after work today. Seriously, which vehicle would you rather go with?

In 10 years of strawberry picking, the best crop I've seen.

Very hot and humid day - and so a little stop on the way back to buy the supplies to make some ice-cold strawberry milkshakes...
