In the Cold

A crazy winter of ice storms, arctic temperatures and surprise thaws finally gave way to a beautiful winter's day today, and so who could resist going out for a drive at lunch? Also the first drive of 2014!

-16°C today, and with 50 kmh winds, but the Land Rover was a composed as could be, except for doing a curious crab-like course on the pure polished ice sections of road as the wind tried to push us aside. The Kodiak 2 heater did its job, the cabin remained perfectly comfortable. The windows kept their good reputation, too, and did not fog up, which was a pleasant surprise, as the windows did on my regular car this morning.....

And of course, couldn't resist a few photographs.

  1. Wow, we've hardly had any winter weather yet, it has been unusually warm for the time of year here on the East coast of the UK. The West coast has had bad weather but mainly in the form of gales, torrential rain, flooding etc.

Lovely pictures and nice to hear that all is still well with your Land Rover and a happy new year to you :-)

  2. Happy New Year to you, too! : )

We need a thaw here, to get rid of the 2-3 inches of ice that's covering most smaller roads and many sidwalks. Supposed to be +8C here on the weekend, which is good news.
